I would like to correct a misinterpretation of Gov. Paul LePage’s use of the term “every people,” as first referred to in a letter from Irene Lagasse on Sept. 22 and in a recent letter from Donna Harrison (Oct. 1).

LePage was, indeed, correct. The word “people” can also mean the same as “ethnic group,” for example.

So, he did not misspeak or use incorrect English when he used the words “every people” in his recent comments.
