AUGUSTA (AP) — The average price for home heating oil in Maine is unchanged from last week at $3.53 a gallon.
The Governor’s Energy Office said a weekly survey found the prices ranged from a low of $3.28 found in three areas of the state to a high a $3.75 found in northern Maine.
Energy Director Patrick Woodcock said Tuesday that these prices are unaffordable for many Maine families at current consumption rates. He said the state is moving forward with programs to help Mainers invest in more affordable heating systems and energy efficiency improvements. He said he encourages residents to take advantage of these programs — such as one from Efficiency Maine Trust — to determine how to reduce annual heating costs with investments in energy efficiency improvements.
