Bean supper at Calvary Methodist

LEWISTON — A bean and casserole supper will be held from 4:45 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 59 Sabattus St. Use the Bartlett Street entrance.

Menu will include casseroles, salads, beans, hot biscuits and homemade pies. Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children.

AUBURN — A bean and casserole supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at United Methodist Church, 439 Park Ave.

Cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 6 to 10; and no charge for 5 and under.

Pancake breakfast is Oct. 13

AUBURN — A pancake breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 13, at St. Philip’s Church, Route 4, across from Lake Auburn.

Menu will be pancakes, sausage patties, fruit cup, orange juice, coffee, tea and milk. Adults, $6; children 6 to 12, $2; 5 and under, free.

The public is invited.

Library program: Sasquatches, etc.

AUBURN — Sasquatch, the Dover Demon, the Montauk Monster, the Jersey Devil and the Napes/Skunk Apes are just a few of the creatures whose existence many believe they have witnessed. Jeff Meuse, assistant director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, will be at the Auburn Public Library at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, to talk about these rare sightings.

The world’s only cryptozoology museum dedicated to the search for ‘monsters’ will be bringing some of their exhibits to the library. Meuse will also answer questions.

Workshops on basic email

AUBURN — More and more, an email address is an essential thing to have to sign up for services, apply for jobs or register for events. Join the staff at the Auburn Public Library at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, for an introductory workshop on email basics. This workshop will be repeated at 10 a.m. on Oct. 25.

Participants do not need to have an email account for the workshop. Basic concepts will be discussed and handouts will be provided so that those attending can set up an email at a later date. Call the Auburn Public Library Reference Department at 333-6640, ext. 4, to register.

The library’s partners from Best Buy are at APL every Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m. to answer technology questions. No registration is required.

Turkey supper in Buckfield

BUCKFIELD — Hartford Community Church will hold a public turkey supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Masonic Lodge in Buckfield.

The traditional Thanksgiving supper will include turkey and stuffing, potato and gravy, squash, turnip, peas, corn, dinner rolls, homemade pie and beverages.

Cost is $6 for adults, $3.50 for children 12 and under.

Connected Catholics potluck

Harry Potter costume party

POLAND — A free Harry Potter Costume Party will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Ricker Memorial Library, Route 26, across from the Poland Community Church.

The all-ages event will include games and other activities, prizes, fun contests and refreshments. Organizers are hoping there will be lots of Harry Potter-themed costume ideas.

Christian Skate Night is Oct. 20

ATV/Snowmobile Safety Class set

TURNER — An ATV/Snowmobile Safety Class will be offered at MSAD 52 Adult & Community Education from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, through Thursday, Oct. 24. Fee is $10.

Participation in an ATV education course will teach how to properly operate and maintain an ATV. Laws, responsibilities and personal safety will also be covered. Passage of final exam is required. Students must attend every day of class in order to receive a certificate.
