1937 – 2013
EAST LIVERMORE — Percy Roland Cleveland, 76, of East Livermore, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, with his family by his side.
He was born in Skowhegan on Jan. 20, 1937, the son of Roland and Evelyn (Corson) Cleveland. He was raised in Cornville and lived in the following towns: Athens, Windsor, Monmouth and East Livermore.
Percy served three years as military police in the U.S. Army. He commercially raised vegetables in Cornville and Athens, raised and raced horses for harness racing, and worked in various shoe factories in Skowhegan and Lewiston.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved to watch sports on TV; he was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves.
He is survived by his children, Celia Buzzell and companion, Glenn, of Portland, Rolanda Galloway and husband, Steven, of North Carolina, Rickie Cleveland of East Livermore, Darlene Dutil and her husband, Armand, of Winslow, Dorene Bickford and husband, Glenn, of Georgia, Louise Perkins and husband, Phil, of Oxford and Cheryl Sargent and companion, Dennis, of Saco; a brother, Keith and wife, Edwina, of Solon; two sisters, Shirley McClellan of Florida and Lucille Holmes of Florida; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Percy was predeceased by his companion, Crystal Hayden; his parents; a son, Lloyd Hayden; and a sister, Meredith Merrill.
The family would like to thank the staff of the cardiac unit at Central Maine Medical Center for all their wonderful care.
