TURNER — Brothers Bryce and Kevin Libby will share the bill on Saturday, Nov. 9, as they headline the second concert in the Fall Music Festival sponsored by the North Turner Presbyterian Church.

Both are known to area audiences but for very different musical styles. Kevin, a guitarist and vocalist, is also a songwriter, and the soulful country style he has developed over the past 30 years skillfully blends material from such artists as Jerry Jeff Walker, Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash with his own compositions.

Singer Bryce studied classical voice in his youth and performed for many years in a variety of settings in Connecticut, New York and Massachusetts.. He is known for a dynamic stage presence through which he delivers an eclectic repertoire of Broadway, jazz, blues and pop standards. He does not write songs, but he does his own arrangements, which at times differ significantly from the original composition.

Although at seemingly opposite ends of the musical spectrum, the brothers share the same musical heritage and a very interpretive approach to their music.

“Neither one of us just ‘covers’ the material we perform,” said Bryce. “We only choose material we feel a personal connection to, and what the audience gets is our own take on the songs. We recently shared a stage for the first time, and afterwards people commented on how very different we are and yet how nicely our styles complement each other. And actually, my older brother Kevin was a significant musical influence for me. I grew up listening to the records he bought and listening to him practice guitar. And we both were profoundly influenced by the musical family we grew up in.”

Bryce will be accompanied by pianist John Twitchell.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the church on Howes Corner Road (Route 219) in North Turner. It is approximately one mile east of the intersection of Routes 4 and 219. There is no set price for the concert but goodwill donations will be taken at the door and refreshments will be served during intermission. Everyone is welcome and this is a family event so bring the children.
