Final ‘famous’ chicken supper

BOLSTERS MILLS — Bolsters Mills United Methodist Church will hold its final “famous” chicken pie supper of the season on Saturday, Oct. 19. Seatings will be at 5 and 6 p.m., with a third to follow as needed.

The church is handicap accessible and air conditioned.

Supper includes chicken pie, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, rolls, homemade dessert and beverages. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children under 12.

Reservations are accepted on Saturday between 9 a.m. and noon by calling 583-9024. Confirmation is required; do not leave a message.

Girl Scout info meeting Oct. 24

OTISFIELD — Girl Scouts of Maine will host a parent information and registration meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Otisfield Town Office.

Girls and adults are invited to find out about the many different and fun ways today’s girls are participating in Girl Scouting and how the programs and activities inspire them to reach their personal best. Participants will also learn about the flexible options and benefits of becoming a Girl Scout volunteer.

Halloween carnival is Oct. 25

NORWAY — Fun, games, prizes and snacks will be offered by the Second Congregational Church during this year’s Norway Main Street event on Friday, Oct. 25.

Families participating in this popular annual event are welcome to stop by the church between 2 and 5 p.m. for treats and games.

Church volunteers will oversee bowling, doughnuts on a string, ball toss, duck pond, fishing and a cookie walk, to name a few. Youngsters and their parents are invited to come in costume.

Pickwick Club to host Nayder

AUBURN — The Pickwick Club, Maine’s Dickens reading group, will feature Bates’ English Dept. Chairman Lillian Nayder, speaking on her book “The Other Dickens.” Q and A to follow.
