WILTON — Selectmen unanimously voted Tuesday to make the lane from High Street to Main street right-turn only, Town Manager Rhonda Irish said.
The decision came after a public hearing on the proposed change to the Parking and Traffic Ordinance.
Selectmen previously discussed the danger of coming down the hill on High Street and not being able to see oncoming cars on Main Street. It made a left turn difficult and dangerous, they said.
If people want to make a U-turn to go down Main Street, they now need to drive in front of KeyBank and around the town monument to make the left turn, she said. It was that way for years up until two years ago when it was changed to allow left turns from High to Main Street, Irish said.
People who attended the hearing supported the change, she said.
