1923 – 2013

LEWISTON — Jean “Paul” Richard, 90, of Golder Road in Lewiston, died at Marshwood Nursing Home on Wednesday, Oct. 16, surrounded by his family.

Paul was born in Auburn on Jan. 2, 1923, the seventh child of 10 born to Eva (Caron) and Napoleon Richard. He was educated in Lewiston schools. He married the love of his life, Yvette Lessard, on Oct. 31, 1942, at Holy Cross Church in Lewiston while he was serving his country during WWII in France, England and Germany.

Paul was a hard worker who worked at the Bonafied Mill in Lisbon and later retired from Bath Iron Works as a pipe fitter. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1973 after going to night school.

He was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He took very good care of his wife during her illness even with his limitations due to his age and lack of sight.

Paul enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and also watching the Red Sox and the Bruins. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus in Lisbon Falls and for years he was an extraordinary minister at Holy Family Church.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Yvette, on April 11, 2012; his four sisters, Florentine Richard, Emilienne Weeks, Germaine Bard and Monette Angers; and his five brothers, Antoine, Ralph, Roland, Gilbert and Victorien Richard.
