1927 – 2013

AUBURN — Capt. Edward B. Fortin, retired U.S. Air Force veteran, 86, of Poland, passed away Monday, Oct. 21, at the Androscoggin Hospice House.

He was born on Feb. 3, 1927, the son of William and Anna (Demers) Fortin and had been a resident of this community all his life.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II as a pilot. After serving in the military, he returned to civilian life and went to work in the manufacturing industry.

He is survived by his caregivers, Doris and Wayne Everett, who took him into their home to live with after his wife passed away. He is also survived by Therese Henson and Sue Tremblay James, who were there for our support; three sons and two daughters; also good friends, Fred and Ferne LeBlonde.

He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers and two sisters; and most recently his loving wife, Liane Demers Fortin, who passed away unexpectedly on Aug. 15, 2013.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Hospice House for their tender, loving care given to Ed.
