1948 – 2013

AUBURN — Anona L. “Nonie” Spaulding, 65, of South Casco, died Thursday, Oct. 24, at the Androscoggin Hospice House.

She was born in Portland on Sept. 14, 1948, the daughter of Fred Jr., and Jacqueline Lorraine (McLeod) Fillinger. She was educated in Portland schools and was employed as a hairdresser at Headlines until her retirement in 2010.

Nonie enjoyed scrapbooking, dancing, riding and watching her husband race motorcycles. She loved cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She was known for her infectious smile and her outgoing and flirtatious personality.

She is survived by her husband, Michael J. Spaulding, whom she married on Sept. 21, 2002, of South Casco; their dog, Lucy Lee; one brother, Fred Fillinger III and his wife, Cindy, of Windham; three sisters, Lorraine Gadway and her husband, Richard, of Sabattus, Laura Fillinger and her companion, Diane Cunningham, of Portland and Jackie Fillinger and her companion, Tammy Spaulding, of Bridgton; her mother-in-law, Laura Carver and her husband, John Sr., of Turner; her father-in-law, Ronald Spaulding Sr., of North Walpole, N.H.; an aunt, June Moore of Westbook; a very dear friend, Nina Wheeler and her husband, Michael, of Bethel; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
