NASHVILLE — Amy Peet from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in South Paris has been selected as a member of the 2013 NAfME All-National Honor Choir sponsored by the National Association for Music Education.
Peet will join more than 670 of the most musically talented and skilled high school students in the United States to perform at a gala concert on Wednesday, Oct. 30, in Nashville.
The students will prepare challenging music that they will perform under the baton of four of the most prominent conductors in the United States: Dr. Peter Boonshaft, Miriam Burns, Rollo Dilworth and Rodney Whitaker.
Peet is one of 12 students who have been selected for the honor from Maine.
“We could not be prouder of Amy’s accomplishments,” said Dennis Boyd Jr, choir director at OHCHS. “We are excited that she is representing our community and our state at the national level.”
Donations to help Peet are being accepted through the Oxford Hills Music, Art and Drama Boosters, C/O Kyle Jordan, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, 256 Main St., South Paris, ME 04281.
Eligible students have qualified for their state-level honor ensemble program and competed against top students for a spot in the national honor ensembles.
