First-place prize winners in the second annual scarecrow reunion contest, sponsored by the New Sharon Community Improvement Team, have been selected. They are: most original, Douin’s Market, journey of hope; funniest, Wendy Pond, green pumpkin caterpillar; use of recycled material, Dean Hamlin, tin man; patriotic, Tucker Plouffe. Each was presented prizes from local businesses. The reunion was set up in a field between Post Office Road and Route 2, Mercer Road. The team is made up of residents who organize activities, which also include flower gardens, a vegetable garden and a lighted Christmas tree. Meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. at the town office the second and fourth Mondays during late spring and summer and the second Mondays through late fall and winter.
