100 years ago, 1913
Miss Dorothy Macomber of Minot Avenue, Auburn, proved a very delightful hostess when she entertained a number of her friends at a Hallowe’en party in the Cabin Unique at Taylor Pond. At 5 p.m. a hayrack met the guests at the Auburn public library. When the hayrack arrived at Cabin Unique a delicious supper of baked beans, brown brad, pickles, pumpkin pie, sweet cider and apples was served.
The Tau Gamma Girls of Edward Little High School, Auburn, gave a Hallowe’en party at the home of Mrs. J.H. Swart, Pleasant street, Lewiston. The affair was held in a large barn tastefully decorated with autumn leaves, pumpkins and Jack-o’-lanterns. The young men were obliged to obtain their partners by means of a complicated cobweb. Each one was given a string which he had to trace to the end where a card was hidden, bearing the name of one of the girls.

50 years ago, 1963
Auburn Youngsters turned out in goodly numbers last night for the Halloween Rendezvous program at Walton Field and at Pettingill Park sponsored by the Auburn Parks and Recreation Department. A number of events were held for the youngsters including the awarding of prizes in the pumpkin carving contest at the Auburn YMCA. Prizes also were awarded in the Witches Ride contest. Director Harry Reynolds said he received no reports of any trouble at either of the Rendezvous sites

25 years ago, 1988
The owner of a downtown building badly damaged in a fire at the end of September said this week he will renovate the building. But several of his tenants, fearing the loss of steady customers in the meantime, have moved their businesses elsewhere downtown. Jerry Douglass, owner of the portion of the Pilsbury Block from 200 to 208 Lisbon St., said he hopes the building will be restored to its original condition in “a minimum” of four months and that his old tenants will move back in.
