LEWISTON – SeniorsPlus, the Aging and Disability Resource Center for Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties, will offer a free six-week workshop on living with a chronic condition beginning Tuesday, Nov. 12.
Some examples of chronic conditions are diabetes, arthritis, asthma, depression, cancer, heart disease, chronic pain, anxiety, multiple sclerosis and fibromyalgia.
Participants will learn real-life skills to feel better and be in control of their life. Classes are interactive. The workshop builds confidence around managing health, staying active and enjoying life.
Two trained volunteer leaders with chronic conditions themselves will discuss about how to manage symptoms and medication, work with a health care team, set weekly goals, problem-solve effectively, improve communication, relax, handle difficult emotions, eat well and exercise safely.
The sessions will be held from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Nov. 12 through Dec. 17, at the SeniorsPlus Education Center, 8 Falcon Road. The workshop is free, but preregistration is required. Call SeniorsPlus at 1-800-427-1241 to reserve a seat.
