Breaking For Breast Cancer Awareness!
On Oct. 5, Phoenix Academy of Martial Arts of Auburn held a fund raising event called Breaking for Breast Cancer Awareness at the YWCA in Lewiston. The event was kicked off with a speed breaking demonstration by Sosai Donna Harris, who broke 294 boards in one minute. Other entertainment included a performance by the Phoenix Karate Academy’s Demo Team as well as Mr. Drew and his animals, too.
There were carnival games with prizes, face painting, a silent auction, craft sale and bake sale as well as 50/50 and prize raffles. The event raised over $800 for a local mother who is fighting breast cancer. This will be an annual event held each year on the first Saturday in October at the YWCA, and each year all the proceeds will go to a local family who is fighting cancer. For more information or if you wish to donate or volunteer for next years event, please call 207-577-1046.
