LEWISTON — Isabel U. Gaerlan, 85, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 2, at her home.
She was born in the Philippines on May 3, 1928, the daughter of Clement and Korgis (Umangil) Gumavol. She received her education in the Philippines and obtained her nursing degree in 1955.
She was the widow of Fr. Sancho A. Gaerlan, whom she married in 1955. In 1973, she moved to the United States, where she continued nursing in several hospitals across the country. In 1976, Isabel was joined by her husband and their six children from the Philippines.
She is survived by her daughters, Joan Gaerlan-Millette and husband, Harold, of Lewiston, Nellie Gaerlan-Montgomery and husband, John, of Indiana, Elizabeth Gaerlan-Davis and husband, William, of Nevada, and Graal Gaerlan and Magnolia Gaerlan, both of California; her son, Francis Gaerlan and wife, Sheryl, of North Carolina; and her 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
More of Isabel’s beautiful life will be expressed by her family and friends during her funeral services.
