Free dental care on Nov. 8

LIVERMORE FALLS/AUBURN — More than 30 dentists around Maine will volunteer their time this Friday, Nov. 8, to provide teeth cleanings, fillings and extractions to people who cannot afford regular dental care and are not covered by dental insurance.

The program, Dentists Who Care for ME, offers one oral care service or a referral to an endodondist or oral surgeon.

People wishing to receive treatment are encouraged to arrive early at the participating dental offices to secure an appointment, as slots fill quickly. Appointments will not be taken prior to Nov. 8.

Local participating dentists will be Advanced Dentistry, 220 Main St., Auburn, and Kay Advanced Dental Concepts, 32 Main St., Livermore Falls.

Hunters’ breakfast, craft fair Nov. 9

MONMOUTH — A hunters breakfast and craft fair will be held from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at Monmouth Fish and Game.

A benefit auction will be held for a 27-year-old female who has been diagnosed with gestational trophoblastic disease.

Vegan cooking, herb classes

LEWISTON — The Ark, 791 Lisbon St., will host the following classes.

An herb class, “Time for an oil change,” will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12. Essential fatty acids play a key role in brain function. Lifestyle, nutrition and herbs can reduce the risk of dementia or Alzheimer’s.

A free vegan cooking class with Cheryl Farley will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov 13. It will feature recipes for Thanksgiving. No registration required.

GREENE — The Universalist Church of Greene will hold its annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the church on Route 202.

Resource Fair for veterans, family

LEWISTON — Lewiston/Auburn Maine Military & Community Network will sponsor a Resource Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at National Guard Armory, 55 Alfred Plourde Parkway.

Veterans, active duty military members and families are welcome. Admission is free.

Keynote speaker at 10 a.m. will be Chip Morrison, president of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce.

There will be more than 40 organizations that specialize in the areas of veterans’ benefits, recreational opportunities, elder services, children’s services, education, employment, health care, housing, therapy dogs, legal, personal finances, women’s issues, Veteran Affairs, traumatic brain injury and much more.
