AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine home heating oil prices are holding steady as the days grow colder and the nights get longer.
The latest weekly price survey by the governor’s energy office released Tuesday finds an average statewide price of $3.53 cents per gallon for Number 2 heating oil and $3.94 per gallon for kerosene. Both prices are the same as last week.
The average price of a gallon of propane rose by 2 cents over last week to $2.70.
Prices for heating oil tend to be lower in the western and southwestern areas of the state and higher in northern parts.
Agency officials urge residents to make their homes as energy efficient as possible by weatherizing or installing less expensive and more efficient heating systems.
