- Jayree Gumprecht, 12, of Lewiston shot this 158-pound, 8-point buck with his grandmother’s 30-30 rifle two hours into Deer Hunting Youth Day in Leeds on Oct. 26. This is his first Youth Day hunt and he was out with his grandparents, Buddy and Pauline Murphy. Gumprecht was sitting in the deer blind with his grandmother when a doe came into view. He quietly watched as this buck came up behind her and quickly made the decision to fire one shot. He was greeted enthusiastically at the Red Roof Tagging Station where they gave Gumprecht a new hunter-orange hat and congratulated him on being the first to tag a buck there.
