GREENE — The Greene Community Scholarship Committee raises scholarship funds for deserving students who are bound for college and post-secondary technical schools. In the past 10 years, 33 students have received scholarship awards totaling $35,000. All of these funds have been raised in town meeting.

While committee members are grateful for the financial support they have received from the town, they also see the mounting pressure on local budgets. They feel a responsibility to generate more funding to help students take the big step beyond high school.

Residents are asked to consider making a tax-deductible contribution to the Greene Community Scholarship Fund of any amount. Donations may be made payable to Greene Community Scholarship Fund and mailed to P. O. Box 510, Greene, ME 04236.

For more information, contact the committee chairperson, Carol Buzzell, at 946-5146.
