1919 – 2013
NORWAY — Herman W. Card, 94, of Norway, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 31, at his home, with his family by his side.
He was born in South Paris on Sept. 4, 1919, the son of William H. and Florence McAllister Card. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army and had been employed at Wilner Wood Products.
He was a member of the Oxford Lodge 18 AF & AM and the Weary Club. He cut his own firewood for years, until he was 90 years old. He enjoyed talking with people, playing pranks and jokes. He loved berry picking. He loved going to dances with his wife, the former Thelma Rolfe, whom he married on Jan. 21, 1939. He was known as a local legend, the “mayor of Hobbs Pond.” He was the best father and grandfather anyone could ask for.
He is survived by his grandchildren, Connie Morse Sessions and Leon Morse; and a great-granddaughter, Danielle Wadsworth.
He was predeceased by his wife, Thelma Card.
