Quilters to meet Nov. 14
RUMFORD — RAQ (Rumford Area Quilters) will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Rumford United Methodist Church on Linnell Street. All area quilters welcome.
An explanation on fabric terms will be given and English paper piecing will be demonstrated. To participate in the paper piecing project, bring needle, thread and scissors.
Mystery quilt information will be available. Bring finished “folded” Christmas tree ornaments for the Festival of Trees tree.

Benefit for Steve Provencher
RUMFORD — A benefit for Steve “Goofy” Provencher will take place from 6 p.m. to midnight Friday, Nov. 15, at the Rumford Eagles Hall, 13 Oxford Ave.
There will be a buffet-style meal, Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle and music by Bill Scott and Friends.
Provencher was diagnosed with cancer.
Admission is $5.
Stephens High Class of 1965
RUMFORD — The Stephens High School Class of 1965 will have its class luncheon at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at the Route 2 Diner.
The menu will be prime rib.
Classmates and guests are invited.
Harvest casserole supper
PERU — The Friends of Peru Elementary School will host a harvest casserole supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Peru Elementary School, 30 Main St.
Meal includes beans, casseroles, salads, breads and apple crisp.
There will be an indoor yard sale, 50/50 raffle and a dessert raffle.
Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Proceeds will benefit the Peru Community Center.
Poodunck Snowmobile Club
DIXFIELD — The Poodunck Snowmobile Club will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at the clubhouse on Canton Point Road.

Mexico Historical Society meeting
MEXICO — The Mexico Historical Society will hold their monthly meeting Monday, Nov. 18, at the Cal Lyons Room under the Town Office.
A potluck supper will be held at 5 p.m. followed by a brief business meeting.
The program will be on rubbing grave stones and epitaphs found in old cemeteries.

RUMFORD — Sons of Italy will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18.

Festival of Trees decorating day
RUMFORD — The Rumford Historical Society will hold a decorating day to prepare for the Festival of Trees to be sponsored by the Town of Rumford in December. The meeting will be held at the home of Gail Parent in Hanover on the Society’s customary meeting day, Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m.
Parent has offered to serve lunch; members planning to attend should call her at 364-7482 so she can plan for sufficient quantities of food.
All planning to attend should bring with them any of the following items for construction activities: narrow lace of any type or color; narrow ribbon of gold, silver, white or pastels; silk and/or dried flowers; wallpaper; gold and/or silver paper; glitter glue and glitter; pearls; fabric glue; glue guns; scissors; paper doilies; and Christmas balls of gold, silver, blue or pastels.

Supper, dance for Denise Garcia
RUMFORD — A spaghetti supper and dance to benefit Denise Garcia will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, at the American Legion.
The supper will be from from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. The cost is $7 for adults; children 12 and under, $5.
The dance will be from 7 to 11 p.m. and will feature the band The Hooligans. The cost of the dance is $10. Tickets, required, can be purchased from All that Jazz, Davis Florists, the American Legion, RSU 10 Central Office (Melanie), MVHS (Leanne ) or at Mountain View Eye Care (Lisa) . Attendees who present their ticket at the door for the spaghetti supper will pay only $5 for the supper.
There will be a Chinese auction and a 50/50. To donate to the auction or for more information, call Leanne at 364-0890. All proceeds are to benefit Denise, who is battling breast cancer.
