To participate in the Rumford celebration of the Christmas in the Valley parade and help welcome the spirit of Christmas, let’s all join in, volunteer our time and show the River Valley the best parade ever.

WHEN: Friday, Dec. 6, parade starts promptly at 6:30 p.m.

RAIN, SNOW OR SHINE

WHERE: Line up will begin at Mountain Valley High School with registration opening at 4:30 p.m. at the second entrance (gymnasium entrance). The parade start promptly at 6:30 p.m. and will proceed up Hancock St., down Lincoln Ave., up Waldo St., and will end up on Congress St. in Rumford. The floats will be stopped on Congress St. while Santa performs the tree lighting ceremony.

THEME: “Christmas Wonderland”

HOW: Get with your staff, friends and/or family and put your imaginations to work to design a float for the parade. Fill out the registration form and return it to the Chamber at 10 Bridge Street in Rumford.

JUDGING: Judging starts promptly at 5:30 p.m. Entries will be judged on creativity, originality and how well they depict the theme.

PRIZES: First, second and third place awards will be presented in two categories:

Non-profit/civic and Commercial/Business. Banners will be placed in front of each of the winning floats so spectators will know who won.
