ATTLEBORO, Mass. — Joseph Michael Ruby, 87, of Norton, Mass., died Monday, Nov. 11, at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, Mass. He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Conrad) Ruby.

He was born in Durham on Sept. 30, 1926, one of 15 children of the late John P. and Mary (Lymes) Ruby. Joseph grew up in Lisbon Falls and lived for many years in North Attleboro, Mass., before moving to Norton, Mass., 15 years ago.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, sailing on the USS Boxer aircraft carrier. Joseph worked as a mechanic and tire man all his life.

He is survived by a daughter, Lorna J. Ruby, of North Attleboro, Mass.; two sons, Brian S. Ruby of Norton, Mass., and his former wife, Kathie Ruby, mother of Zachary and Nicholas, all of Norton, Mass., and Gary M. Ruby and his wife, Lisa, of Travelers Rest, S.C.; a granddaughter, Jocelyn Ruby of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Gary Jr., Julia and Chrissa of Travelers Rest, S.C.; two sisters, Helen Barrett of Lisbon Falls and Madelyn Huston of Lisbon; as well as many loving nieces and nephews in Massachusetts and Maine.
