PERU — Dirigo Elementary School will invite the grandparents of students to visit their classrooms from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday.
Heather Gray, a literacy interventionist at the school, said Grandparents Day would include presentations in each classroom and a book fair.
The event will begin at 8:30, but the grandparents can show up at 8:15 for a meet-and-greet in the cafeteria, she said. “Each grade level will hold presentations in their classrooms until 10 a.m.”
Gray said they’re prepared for grandparents who have more than one grandchild to visit.
“We’ve separated it so if they have more than one grandchild in different classes, they’ll be able to see both of them over the course of the day,” she said.
Also this month, students will sell pies at the Dixfield Post Office at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26. Sales will benefit the PTO, Gray said.
At 3:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, the staff will unveil Christmas trees to be sold to the public for charity.
“We have a few trees that we’ll be decorating, sort of like the Festival of Trees,” Gray said. “We’ll unveil them on Dec. 2, and later, we’ll sell some raffle tickets for the trees. The money raised will go toward helping local groups.”
