OXFORD — A local woman was removed from the Oxford Casino and charged with disorderly conduct by Oxford Police on Friday night.
Doreen Wentworth, 42, of Lovell was warned multiple times by police to settle down and act appropriately before she was arrested, according to Oxford police Lt. Michael Ward.
Police were called to the casino around 10:30 p.m. Friday for a report of a loud, unruly patron using offensive language, Ward said.
He and officer Rickie Jack encountered Wentworth and warned her to calm down and stop using offensive language, Ward said. Wentworth had been drinking but was not tested for intoxication, he noted.
Wentworth was upset and boisterous and ignored police warnings to moderate her behavior, resulting in her removal from the casino, Ward said.
“We don’t want to arrest people,” Ward said. “We want people to have a good time and come back. Most of the people we deal with who are disorderly, whether it be at the fairgrounds or the speedway or at a local business, once we give them a warning, they comply,” he continued.
“Some people choose not to, and she was one of them.”
According to the Oxford County Jail, Wentworth was released on personal recognizance Saturday morning.
