1934 – 2013

WILTON — Harriet P. “Hattie” Stansfield, 79, of Wilton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday morning, Nov. 17.

She was born in Lewiston on June 16, 1934, a daughter of Ralph and Florida (Belanger) Plaisted. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. Following her graduation from Jay High School in 1953, Harriet found employment with G.H. Bass and Co. in Wilton. On April 4, 1959, she married John “Jack” Stansfield of Wilton.

She gave up her employment in the shoe industry just prior to the birth of their first child in 1962, to become a full-time mother and homemaker. Harriet enjoyed arts and crafts, spoiling her pet shelties, being around small children and spending summers at camp in Weld.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jack Stansfield, of Wilton; three children, Daniel Stansfield and his wife, Peggy, of Berwick and Sheila Stansfield and Sheldon Stansfield, both of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Michelle Stansfield and David Stansfield; two brothers, George Plaisted and his wife, Betty, of Chisholm and St. Cloud, Fla., and Frank Plaisted of Dixfield; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Georgia Plaisted; and a brother, Claris Plaisted.

Tributes and condolences may be shared with her family on her memorial wall at www.wilesrc.com.
