MONMOUTH — Visit downtown Monmouth on Sunday, Dec. 1, for “Light up the Holidays!” an afternoon filled with holiday cheer celebrating downtown Monmouth and its surrounding community.

The annual tree lighting in front of the Monmouth Museum will take place among events and activities for the whole family from community organizations including the Monmouth Museum, the Cumston Public Library, Theater at Monmouth, Neighbors Helping Neighbors, the Monmouth General Store, Friends’ Folly Farm, and Treasure Hunters.

Beginning at 1 p.m., warm up in beautiful Cumston Hall with Theater at Monmouth’s production of “This Wonderful Life,” a one-man adaptation of Frank Capra’s holiday classic, “It’s a Wonderful Life” by Steve Murray, featuring TAM favorite Mike Anthony.

After the show, bundle up and meet at the Monmouth Museum’s Stencil Shop for holiday caroling on Main Street. The caroling brings friends and neighbors to the Monmouth Museum for the annual tree lighting at the Stencil Shop. After the tree lighting, join the Caron family for the community supper at 4 p.m. at the Packard Activity Center.

Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., visit” Yuletide in a Yurt: Holiday Fare” from local artisans at Friends’ Folly Farm on Norris Hill Road, receive half off all holiday items at Treasure Hunters, and savor free coffee at the Monmouth General Store.

From 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., bring the little ones to have their picture taken with Santa in his sleigh at the Monmouth Museum Carriage House. Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Monmouth Food Bank.
