The Maine Poultry Association has been obliged to abandon its annual show … because there is no hall in Maine big enough to hold it. The Lewiston committee to visit the officials of the Maine Teachers’ Association and induce them to meet in Lewiston is unsuccessful … no accommodations in Lewiston. What Lewiston needs, therefore, is a place, a convention hall and a lot more hotel accommodations. The Maine teachers want to come here. They like the place. It is easy to reach. But what’s the use, they say. The crowds overtax the entertainment and there is no convention hall big enough for the larger meetings.

But in between, incandescent lighting was installed using bulbs equivalent to the 60 watt household bulb.

City and little league officials in Auburn yesterday agreed to a proposed layout for a new baseball complex and decided to work out differences on who should have authority over the facility. Mayor Harry Woodard Jr. and Tom Brown, vice president of the Auburn Suburban Little League, termed the city Parks and Recreation Department’s acceptance of the league’s proposed layout a major breakthrough in a three-month stalemate over the complex. “We’ve come a long way,” Brown said. The city and league will meet soon with the hopes of spelling out in a lease outlining who should have authority over the complex near the National Guard armory on Garfield Road.
