Equipment is ready to tear down the old Pettingill School in Lewiston. “We will be thrashing on Friday,” Paul Chabot of Chabot’s Construction said. He and crews have been on site since Wednesday salvaging the one-story building at left. The steel truss system and windows will be used to build a similar one-story commercial building on Chabot’s land in Greene. The brick section of the school at right will be torn down. Chabot said it will take about three weeks to finish the job. Friends of Pettingill is dedicated to preserving the school’s playground and making a community park on site.
