DEAR SUN SPOTS: We have sent you this request before, after the fires, and had a wonderful response from the community. But again we face a need for women’s hygiene items.

The Center for Wisdom’s Women is a day drop-in center for women, and we try to give away one bag of supplies to any woman who asks, with the limit of one bag per month. Lately, for some reason, needs are growing and we are constantly running out of items.

Several women came today, and we had nothing to give them. Last month alone we gave out 50 bags. One reason may be the tight economy, and the fact that food stamps will not pay for these basic items. But they are so important. If you look and smell better, you just feel better.

It would be wonderful if you could please share this need with your readers again. We especially need donations of full-size shampoo, bar soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes and feminine pads (not tampons at the moment). Sample sizes are also accepted for use in packets we that give women who are on the street.

We do not need perfumes, nail polish, cosmetics, etc. They are nice, but not necessary, and we do not have the room to store them. And please, no opened and partially used items.

The most helpful would be for churches and other groups to organize bringing a box of these items regularly. Thank you. — Klara Tammany, cww@oxfordnetworks.net

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am a middle school teacher in Auburn, and there is a student who previously played the cello at another school. This student has a keen ear for music and wants to enrich his musical knowledge and ability. We have been unable to locate an inexpensive cello for sale or for donation. Any help in the search for a cello would be welcomed and appreciated. — Doug Dumont, ddumont@auburnschl.edu, 207-333-6655

DEAR SUN SPOTS: If anyone has a printer that use HP56 black ink and HP58 photo ink, I have one each, never used, that I could recycle and get $6 each for. But if someone is in need and calls me at 212-5444, I would be glad to give them to you.

We could meet at the Dunkin’ Donuts in Livermore Falls. I bought a new computer and use a different ink cartridge. Thank you, Sun Spots. I know someone will call. — Ray Boies, Livermore Falls
