The first half will be dedicated to the group’s namesake period, with glorious music by Jacob Handl, Soriano, Arcadelt and Aichinger. The second half will feature a stunning recent composition by Patricia van Ness, renowned contemporary composer and Maine resident, who represents the ensemble’s ongoing effort to perform the works of women.
The Sixty-Seventh Psalm by Charles Ives, an arrangement of The Morning Star by Virgil Thomson, seasonal pieces by George Whitefield Chadwick, two selections from Supply Belcher’s 1794 collection The Harmony of Maine, along with poetry and prose read by the singers, will round out the program.
