VASSALBORO — State police have charged a 30-year-old man with stabbing another man to death.

Spokesman Steve McCausland said Monday that Courtney Shea was charged murder in connection with the death of 69-year-old Thomas Namer of Waterville. Shea had called the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office on Friday morning to report there was a body next door to a mobile home in Vassalboro.

Police found Namer’s body and charged Shea Friday with a probation violation. He was charged with murder on Monday. Police say the two men had known each other for some time.

Shea is expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday or Wednesday at Kennebec Superior Court in Augusta.

Vassalboro is about midway between Augusta and Waterville.
