AUGUSTA (AP) — A panel of Maine lawmakers and health care experts that’s overseeing the progress of the health care exchange under the Affordable Care Act is meeting in Augusta.
The Maine Health Exchange Advisory Committee meeting on Monday is focusing on consumer outreach and enrollment efforts at MaineHealth, which owns some hospitals and medical facilities in Maine.
Democratic lawmakers on the panel said the hospitals are well-positioned to assist Mainers with getting coverage under the federal health overhaul.
The top Health and Human Services official for New England will also update lawmakers on the status of the federal exchange.
The exchange website has been riddled with problems and technical glitches since opening for enrollment Oct. 1, but Washington officials say the site is on the mend.
