NORWAY/BUCKFIELD — Lee Dassler will lead a series of three approximately 2-mile Nordic walking programs on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. on area preserves.
Nordic walking is an energized form of walking with Nordic ski poles. Beyond the obvious benefits of walking outdoors, the poles provide diagonal stability and resonance to upper body chest and limbs.
Participants who have walking poles should bring them. Thanks to support from Healthy Oxford Hills, six sets of poles will be available for loan. Dress in layers and wear good walking shoes or hiking boots.
A walk on Dec. 8 was held at Roberts Farm Preserve, 64 Roberts Road, Norway.
Upcoming walks will be on Sunday, Dec. 15, on the new Packard Trail loop in Buckfield, 1.2 miles south of 117 on the Sodom Road.
The first-day-of-winter walk will be held Sunday, Dec. 22, at Shepard’s Farm Preserve, a half-mile north of 117 on Crockett Ridge Road, Norway.
There is no charge for these walks. For more information, call 739-2124.
