BETHEL — Austin Ryerson scored 18 points and dropped in three 3-pointers and teammate Maverik Griffin scored 13 as Telstar dropped Mountain Valley with a 58-48 victory in a boys’ basketball game Thursday.

The Rebels (1-2) held a 34-23 lead at halftime. For the Falcons (1-2), Brad Marshall and Caleb Gauvin each scored 13 points.

In the junior varsity game, Tanner Wheeler lead Telstar to a 45-43 victory over Mountain Valley with his 12 points. Cody Cunningham had eight points for Mountain Valley.

Spruce Mountain 56, Oak Hill 39

JAY — Deonte Ring pured in 17 points for the Spruce Mountain Phoenix in the 56-39 victory over Oak Hill on Thursday night.

Spruce Mountain improves to 3-0 on the young season while Oak Hill drops to 1-2. Scottie Hall chipped in with 13 points in the victory. Oak Hill was led by Derek Gamage who had 13 points.

Mt. Abram 54, St. Dom’s 42

SALEM — Dan Luce scored the team-high 14 points and Amos Withee knocked down three 3-pointers and added 13 points as Mt. Abram dispatched St. Dom’s 54-42 in a boys’ basketball game Thursday.

The Roadrunners (1-2) took a 26-24 lead at halftime.

For the Saints, Matt Dyer had the hot hand, throwing in the game-high 17 points.

Boothbay 52, Lisbon 39

LISBON — John Hepburn pulled down 12 rebounds and piled up 24 points as Boothbay landed on Lisbon (1-1) with 52-39 victory in a boys’ basketball game Thursday.

The Seahawks led 28-21 at halftime. Nick Kilgus had 13 points, including three 3-pointers and Andrew Hallinan scored 11 for Boothbay (1-1). For Lisbon, Jacon Johnston had 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds.

Girls’ basketball

Monmouth 49, Winthrop 26

MONMOUTH — Kylie Kemp dropped in 12 points and Monmouth Academy built a 27-9 halftime lead enroute to a 49-26 victory over Winthrop in a girls’ basketball game Thursday night.

Mikayla Cameron and Paxton Lessard each had nine points the Mustangs (1-2). Lessard’s three, 3-pointers helped give Monmouth an early lead. Kemp pulled down 13 rebounds and was credited with five assists to go along with her 12 points.

For winless Winthrop (0-2), Randi Dennet scored the team-high 11 points and teammate Gabby Stewart had seven.

St. Dom’s 60, Mt. Abram 26

SALEM — Kelly Pomerleau tossed in the game-high 18 points and St. Dom’s defense held Mt. Abram to single-digit scoring for three quarters as the Saints waltzed to a 60-26 victory in a girls’ basketball game Thursday.

By halftime, the Saints (3-0) held a 35-16 lead.

Faith Grady added another 13 points for the Saints. For Mt. Abram (3-0), Olivia Ryan scored 15 points.
