FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners voted Tuesday to approve a $1.12 million budget for 2014-15 for the unorganized territory.

The spending plan reflects a $255,921 decrease from the current budget.

After factoring in revenues and other monies, the tax assessment for the unorganized territory is $991,854.

“I think all of our questions were answered,” Commissioner Gary McGrane said, referring to Kingfield officials explaining the reason for a $42,000 increase in its proposal for waste disposal.

The county is only billed for what is used, Kingfield Selectman John Dill told commissioners in November. He also told them that not enough money was budgeted in the current budget for the UT’s share for Salem Township residents to use the Kingfield-New Portland Transfer Station.

It is estimated that the county’s share would be nearly $50,000 this year. Kingfield requested $60,000 to be on the safe side, Dill said.
