FREEPORT — L.L. Bean is giving $1.6 million in grants to nearly 200 community organizations.
The outdoors retailer says the gifts ranging from $500 to $25,000 will go to organizations involved in conservation and recreation, health and human services, culture and the arts, and education.
Bean’s board of directors approved the funding on Wednesday.
All told, the Freeport-based company’s charitable giving program has provided nearly $36 million in funding to nonprofit organizations over the last decade.
