My cousin had just returned here after 30-plus years, so I wanted to show her the Christmas tree in the square by the old Peck’s building and other city lights. We rode all around Lewiston and the outskirts only to find many homes in the dark.

What’s with this? No tree, no lights and no Christmas spirit.

The tree in Kennedy Park had only four rows of lights. Is Lewiston so poor that it couldn’t even finish the tree?
