1953 – 2013

FALMOUTH — Thomas Steven Axelsen, 60, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 28, following a sudden illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Tom was born in Portland on March 18, 1953, a son of Robert and Arlene (Hanson) Axelsen. Tom grew up in Portland, graduating from Deering High School in 1971. After graduating from SMVTI in 1973, he worked in marine biology for William F. Clapp Laboratories in Connecticut. In 1976, Tom began his career in medical supply sales with Maine Surgical Supply/McKesson Medical. His 37-year sales career was successful due to his strong personal relationships, integrity and work ethic.

Spending time with family and friends and carrying on family traditions were very important to him. He had a great sense of humor and was the go-to guy for his family, friends and customers.

Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Patty (Dusseault); his children, Kate Foster (Todd), Hans and Neil; his father, Robert Axelsen; his sisters, Kathy Hoglund (Cliff) and Christine Wernig (Scott); and many nieces, nephews and close friends.
