FARMINGTON — About an inch of water accumulated on the floor in some areas of the Franklin County dispatch center after a frozen pipe burst on New Year’s Day, Communications Director Stan Wheeler said.
Emergency 911 services and electrical power were not affected, he said.
Farmington Fire Rescue Department responded to the incident Wednesday morning.
Water had been discovered coming through ceiling tiles in a utility room and adjacent bathroom. The pipe that burst was above a closet in a dispatch supervisor’s office, Wheeler said. The wet insulation and damaged ceiling tiles were removed. The biggest concern was water coming down over an electrical box, he said.
“All in all, it was a relatively minor event but the potential was there to be a major event,” Wheeler said.
Dispatchers are expected to move into the new Communications Center across from the Sheriff’s Office on County Way in March.
