- Bruno Salazar of Auburn holds his 2-year-old daughter, Anika, up with a ski trainer while her mother, Carisa, watches during the first day of the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA cross-country ski lesson program in Auburn on Sunday. About 50 children participated in the lessons at the Auburn Nordic Ski Association Trails off Perkins Ridge Road. This is the fourth year that volunteers from the community, Bates College and Auburn public schools have teamed up with the YMCA and the Lewiston-Auburn Bill Koch Ski Club to teach children how to Nordic ski.
