Skating at Lake Auburn was never better than at present. Sunday more than 2000 persons enjoyed the sport there from early in the morning until late in the evening. Saturday night, too, there was a great crowd of skaters at the lake. The surface is smooth and in splendid condition for the use of skaters and ice boats. There are plans to install a system of electric lights upon the lake. The lights will, as now intended, extend from Lake Grove across to Conant’s point. Also under consideration is the proposition of preparing a hockey field on the lake for use this winter. Both the hockey field and the rink for pleasure skaters would he kept scraped after the snow storms of the winter and would be properly lighted.

Auburn officials said Tuesday a new computer system installed two weeks ago is working without problems and will allow for better control over municipal records and increase efficiency. Computer Services Director Thomas Korst said city workers are undergoing training sessions to use the ConTel computer system, purchased to replace an outdated and ineffective four-year-old computer for the City Building. The computer and software were purchased for $96,000 from Northern Data Systems of Falmouth. “This is proven software. It works in 40 cities in this state. If it can do it there, it can do it in the 41st,” Korst said.
