Think Snow dance is Jan. 11
RUMFORD — The Think Snow dance will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Jan. 11, at the Eagles Hall.
Music will be provided by the Hooligans.
There will be raffles, a 50/50 and more.

Seasonal resource fair set for Jan. 18
RUMFORD — A seasonal resource fair to maintain positive mental health will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Beacon House, 3 Canal St.
Lunch and a healthy afternoon snack will be provided.
Topics will include foot care in the winter, MedCare’s Vial of Life Program, sudden cardiac arrest, isolation, Vitamin D deficiency and Seasonal Affective Disorder, relaxation techniques, community dental information and more.
The fair is hosted by the Consumer Council System of Maine in conjunction with Beacon House, Rumford Community Hospital, Swift River Family Medicine and Healthy Coalition.
The public is invited.
Snowshoe Races to be held Jan. 19
RUMFORD — The Le Paresseux Club Snowshoe Races will be held on Sunday, Jan. 19. Registration will be downstairs at the Le Paresseux Club at 227 Waldo St. The club will open at 10 a.m.
The races will be at the same field as last year, Mountain Valley Middle School, at 58 Highland Terrace in Mexico, at noon.
Directions to the field will be available at the club. Awards and soup for racers will be given out after the races at the club.
MVHS students plan blood drive
RUMFORD — The student council at Mountain Valley High School will sponsor a Red Cross blood drive from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the Puiia gym.
Donors are urged to contact the student council or the American Red Cross (1-800-RED CROSS) to make an appointment.
Firefighters host ‘Night of Laughs’
RUMFORD — The night will come alive at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 1, as the Rumford Professional Firefighters Local 1601 will hold a very special “Night of Laughs” comedy show at Muskie Auditorium at Mountain Valley High School.
The event will feature three of the Boston area’s best stand up comedians who have appeared on Letterman, Leno, at Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun and more.
The event will benefit the Local 1601, with proceeds going for the MDA, Boys and Girl Clubs, youth sports and more. Doors open at 7 p.m. for this mature audience show.
