KINGFIELD — Four people were injured Thursday morning in a head-on collision on Route 27, Maine State Police Sgt. Mathew Casavant said.

Hubert Verrier, 82, of Eustis was traveling south in a Subaru Legacy and lost control on a patch of ice on a curve. The car went sideways and into the northbound lane, striking a GMC pickup truck head-on, Casavant said.

Verrier received a compound fracture of the leg and numerous broken bones, and was taken by a LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, he said.

Ryan Hanscom, 30, of Farmington was driving the pickup truck and received a broken arm and ankle, he said.

Passengers in the truck, Desirae Munroe, 29, of Farmington and Rebecca Garlick, 24, of Rumford complained of pain. They were transported by NorthStar EMS ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

Trooper David Powser investigated the accident.
