PARIS — A Mexico man was sentenced Friday to 90 days in Oxford County Jail on three separate theft cases, including forging a $200 check from the Girl Scouts of America.
Nathan Arsenault, 31, pleaded guilty to three counts of theft and one count of forgery in Oxford County Superior Court on Friday.
Arsenault was indicted for stealing and forging a check from the Girl Scouts of America in August 2013. According to Rumford Police Capt. Daniel Garbarini, Arsenault has an “extensive” criminal history.
Garbarini said Arsenault stole a check from an acquaintance and filled it out to himself in the amount of $200. The bank where he cashed the check alerted the owner of the account and police used surveillance footage from the bank to identify Arsenault as the suspect, Garbarini said.
Arsenault also pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of Dr. McGillicuddy’s liquor from Blaisdell’s Variety in Peru in January 2013 and the theft of a bag of Purina Puppy Chow from the Hannaford supermarket in Rumford in November 2012.
He was sentenced to 60 days in jail, plus a $500 fine for stealing the check, 90 days in jail and a $50 fine for the alcohol theft and 90 days in jail and a $25 fine for stealing the dog food. The sentences are to be served concurrently.
