BIDDEFORD — Senior forward Matt Poulin recorded a pair of goals and assists to lead Lewiston to a 5-2 victory over Thronton Academy in boys’ ice hockey action Saturday.

The Blue Devils (7-1) scored three goals in the first period for a 3-2 lead. Kyle Lemelin contributed a pair of goals for Lewiston.

Jake Verreault scored the first goal of the game for the Trojans.

St. Dom’s 8, Cony/Monmouth 1

AUGUSTA — Senior Chase Hainey found the back of the net twice, as St. Dom’s rolled to a 8-1 win over Cony/Monmouth in a boys’ ice hockey contest.

It was a seniors field day, as Cal Stewart and Tyler Sirois combined for five assists and a goal for the Saints (3-3-1).

Aaron Manter scored the lone goal for Cony (5-4).

EL 10, Westbrook 0

AUBURN — Freshman Cody Woodward slammed in a hat trick as Edward Little routed Westrbook 10-0 in boys’ hockey Saturday at Norway Savings Bank Arena.

Max Giard and Ryan Raby each netted a pair of goals for the Red Eddies (5-3). Alex Leblanc made 26 saves in net for the Blue Blazes (2-7).

Girls’ hockey

Lewiston 5, Yarmouth/Freeport 0

YARMOUTH — Sam Cote and Allison Frechette netted a pair of goals each as Lewiston cruised to a 5-0 victory over Yarmouth/Freeport in girls’ ice hockey action.

Frechette and Cote worked well with teammate Erica Lemieux, who assisted each of them once on the afternoon. Goalkeeper Paige Fontaine recorded the clean slate for the Blue Devils (9-2-1).

Boys’ basketball

Vinalhaven 53, Rangeley 50

RANGELEY — Cody Hamilton scored 17 points and teammates Max Stanley, Noah Slivinsky and Lewis Cray each helped out with 10 points as Vinalhaven beat Rangeley 53-50 in a boys’ basketball Saturday.

Vinalhaven (1-9) took 30-24 lead at halftime and erupted with 19 points in the third quarter.

For Rangeley (2-7), Michael Haley recorded 21 points and Tim White scored 14.

Girls’basketball

Rangeley 65, Vinalhaven 28

RANGELEY — Seve Deery-DeRaps scored 13 points Blayke Morin pulled down seven rebound as Rangeley overwhelmed Vinalhaven 65-28 in a girls’ basketball game Saturday.

The undefeated Lakers (9-0) built a 37-11 lead at halftime and coasted the rest of the way. Maddie Egan scored four points, had four steals and was credited with three assists for the Lakers.

For Vinalhaven (6-7), Ashley Hamilton scored 10 points.

Women’s basketball

CMCC 75, Abbott 68

AUBURN — Central Maine Community College forced 36 turnovers on the day, which made the difference as the Mustangs edged past John Abbott College 75-68 in women’s basketball action.

Susie French dropped in a game-high 28 to go along with 13 rebounds and four steals. Laura Soohey dominated the paint, recording 20 points while grabbing seven boards for the Mustangs (14-1).

Alicia Joseph led the Islanders with 14 points on the afternoon.

Men’s basketball

CMCC 83, Abbott College 65

AUBURN — Central Maine Community College remains undefeated with a convincing 83-65 triumph over Abbott College in men’s basketball action Saturday.

Jalen Lincoln and Tim Flanagan combined for the first 12 points of the game as the Mustangs (15-0) jumped out to a 19-3 lead. They took a commanding 44-18 lead into intermission. The Islanders turned up the tempo in the second half, cutting the lead to ten points at the five minute mark. Four Mustangs posted double figures as Shaun Hill led with 19 points, Luis Medina added 16 points, Flanagan had 11 points and Lincoln posted 10 points.
