Claiming dissatisfaction with the conditions on the farm on the outskirts of Augusta where he had been “bound out” by the Maine Children’s Home at Augusta, Charles Holland, aged 14, with capital of 31 cents took the trolley car for Lewiston, riding until his money gave out and walking the rest of the way, arrived in the city at about midnight Thursday where he was picked up by Patrolman Rivard on Lisbon street. The boy said that he was looking for a job and that his home was in Auburn. Investigation revealed that to be untrue. The boy complained that he had not seen his mother for two years and his father for a year. He wanted to work, he said, but was not used well. Charles will be taken to the home in Augusta Friday evening. He had been staying on the farm of H. J. Murray.

A seal placed over a portion of roof which was being worked on Saturday at Minot Consolidated School failed sometime Saturday light, allowing rain and melting snow to leak into the building, causing extensive water damage. The damage will delay the completion of the roof work and children in grades five to eight will not attend school on Tuesday, although teachers will be there. Regulations require that no students be under the roof where construction or asbestos removal is being done.
