FREEMAN TOWNSHIP — Two Strong women were injured in separate accidents on the Foster Hill Road (Route 145) on Wednesday and Thursday mornings when their vehicles hit patches of ice.
In Thursday’s accident, Allicea Howard, 39, of Strong, was coming from Kingfield when the SUV she was driving hit ice. She lost control and it went off the road into a ditch near the Strong line, Maine State Police Trooper Jed Malcore said Thursday.
Howard was taken by a NorthStar EMS ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.
Strong firefighters assisted at the scene of the 5:52 a.m. accident.
The GMC sport utility vehicle received minor damage, Malcore said.
On Wednesday, Nicole Dalrymple, 29, was driving a Ford SUV and hit some ice. The vehicle struck a snowbank and rolled over onto its roof, he said.
Dalrymple complained of pain to her leg, he said. Her 4-year-old son, Myles Dalrymple, who was strapped into his booster seat, was not injured, Malcore said. Dalrymple was wearing a seat belt.
The mother and son were taken to FMH by a NorthStar ambulance.
The vehicle was heavily damaged, he said.
Strong firefighters assisted at the scene of the 8:01 a.m. accident.
