BERLIN, N.H. — Emma L. Wight, 92, of Berlin, N.H., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 16, at Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin.

She was born in Zumberg, Germany, on May 3, 1921, the daughter of Vater (father) Georg Johann Brunne and Mutter (mother) Wilhelmine Karolina Hirsch, and came to the area in her 30s. She married Louis Oliver Wight in Feuchtwangen, Germany, on Oct. 16, 1954, at the Stiftskirche Church.

Emma was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Nansen Ski Club. She embraced life. She loved the outdoors; skiing, biking and hiking were among her favorite activities. Teaching people to ski was a passion of hers, as she inspired hundreds of people throughout the years. She enjoyed music, and loved people and animals. She was a kind, giving, compassionate person. She loved helping others; she lived on purpose and left the world a better place. For her, Earth Day was every day. She will be missed.

Members of her family include her son, Carl Wight and wife, Lorraine, of Lisbon; daughter, Heidi Wight of Shelburne, N.H.; grandsons, Zack Wight and his wife, Sarah, and their children, Will Aube, Luke Wight and Jacob Wight and wife, Kate, and their daughters, Soleil and Everleigh; granddaughter, Anja Wight; sisters, Luise Fisher and Freda Weiss of Germany; nieces, Christl, Luise, Monika and Brigitte; and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Oliver Wight; sister, Paula Grotsch; daughter-in-law, Laurie Wight; son-in-law, Jean Losier; and niece, Irena Rister.
